Business Development Manager – Chemicals & Detergent Products

Western Cape (ability to commute to Somerset West / Stellenbosch on a regular base)

Our client is an established supplier of high-quality chemical and detergent products serving the commercial, hospitality, and manufacturing sectors. They pride themselves on strong client relationships, and exceptional products.

They are now seeking a dynamic, results-driven Business Development Manager to grow our client base and drive new business opportunities in the Western Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with distributors, industrial clients, and retailers.
  • Act as a hunter – actively prospecting, networking, and developing relationships to open new accounts.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through regular engagement and site visits.
  • Prepare and manage RFP responses, quotations, and commercial proposals.
  • Conduct product presentations and demonstrations for prospective clients.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline using CRM tools and report on weekly activity and conversions.
  • Represent the brand professionally at trade shows, client meetings, and industry events.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in business development, sales, or account management, ideally within chemicals, detergents, or related industrial products.
  • Strong “hunter” mentality with the ability to generate leads, open doors, and close deals.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trust quickly.
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans (written and verbal).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset – comfortable working independently on a commission-only basis.
  • Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport. Use of company car will be provided.  
  • Based in or able to commute to Somerset West / Stellenbosch.
