TRADE FINANCE CREDIT ADMINISTRATOR

Location: Somerset West, South Africa
Reports To: Chief Operations Officer, or as otherwise determined by management

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a highly organised and proactive Trade Finance Credit Administrator to support our Credit Committee processes and wider trade finance activities.

Role Summary

The Trade Finance Credit Administrator provides administrative, reporting and documentation support to the Credit Committee process at Africa Global Trade Finance (AGTF), ensuring credit papers, KYC documentation and risk reporting are complete, accurate and available in good time for review and decision-making. 

Working closely with Front Office Relationship Managers, Middle Office, Compliance and Operations, the role helps ensure transactions are properly documented and aligned with AGTF’s credit and regulatory requirements. 

This is primarily an administration, coordination and documentation management role within a trade finance environment. Applicants should have a working knowledge of trade finance products, transaction processes and documentation. This is not an accounting, bookkeeping, financial analysis or credit underwriting role.

Key Responsibilities Credit Committee Administration and Governance

  • Coordinate Credit Committee meetings and support the preparation of Credit Committee packs.
  • Receive, review and circulate sighting papers, credit papers, renewal papers and incident reports.
  • Take and circulate minutes of Credit Committee meetings.
  • Ensure minutes are signed, filed and follow-up actions are tracked and completed.
  • Support the overall governance and administration of the Credit Committee process. 

Facility Administration and Transaction Monitoring

  • Maintain accurate records of facility limits, utilisation and expiry dates.
  • Support the tracking of drawdown and repayment activity.
  • Monitor outstanding conditions and follow up with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain the central credit file register and ensure documentation is complete and correctly filed.
  • Support periodic client reviews and monitoring activities. 

Risk, ESG and Portfolio Reporting

  • Assist with ESG scoring and due diligence administration.
  • Maintain ESG questionnaires and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with preparation of portfolio reports, including utilisation, reviews and expiring limits.
  • Support watchlist and arrears reporting.
  • Support data collation for management, Board and regulatory reporting. 

KYC, AML and Regulatory Support

  • Confirm KYC and supporting documentation is complete before submission to the Credit Committee.
  • Support onboarding and documentation management processes.
  • Maintain compliance-related records and documentation.
  • Support AML, anti-bribery and regulatory administration requirements in collaboration with the Compliance team. 

Travel Coordination and Administration

  • Coordinate flights, accommodation, visas, ground transport and related travel requirements.
  • Work closely with Finance to ensure travel approvals and documentation are managed appropriately.
  • Maintain travel records, itineraries and approvals.
  • Assist with travel changes, cancellations and travel-related issues. 

Cross-Functional Coordination and General Support

  • Act as a liaison between Origination, Credit, Compliance and Operations teams.
  • Support communication and coordination across departments.
  • Perform other duties that support AGTF’s credit administration function. 

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications Essential

  • Experience in trade finance administration, banking operations, credit administration or a similar trade finance support role.
  • Working knowledge of trade finance products, transaction processes and documentation.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Professional approach and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Basic knowledge of AML and KYC principles is desirable; training will be provided. 

Advantageous

  • Experience supporting Credit Committee processes.
  • Experience preparing meeting packs, taking minutes and tracking actions.
  • Exposure to facility administration, transaction monitoring or trade finance operations.
  • Familiarity with AML, KYC, sanctions or compliance documentation requirements.
  • Experience using document management, workflow or compliance systems.
  • Experience coordinating domestic and international business travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience. 
  • Experience in trade finance, banking operations or credit administration.
