Financial Controller

The Financial Controller, reporting to the Financial Manager, is responsible for the commercial and financial governance of marquee tent and modular structure sales and rental projects, from quotation through to completion, acting as the primary custodian of projected Gross Profit (GP) and financial control across the business. The Financial Controller ensures accurate project costing, budgeting, invoicing, reporting and documentation, while coordinating closely with Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement and Project Teams to protect profitability and enforce compliance with approval matrices.

 Key Responsibilities

• Maintain project financial records, budgets and cost tracking.
• Monitor project performance, GP margins, and budget variances.
• Prepare customer invoices, progress claims and final accounts.
• Perform project reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and month-end reporting.
• Maintain project documentation and ERP system information.
• Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Support management with commercial analysis and profitability insights.
• Drive continuous improvement in project accounting processes and controls.
• Coordinate with Sales, Operations, Manufacturing and Project Managers.

 Requirements

• Diploma or related qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping or Finance.
• Proven experience in financial and project control.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, job costing, and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems.
• Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in events, temporary structures, hospitality, or related industries is advantageous.

 Working Environment

This role operates within the  luxury events and manufacturing environment, providing financial and project support to the broader business. Flexibility will be required from time to time and especially during peak season, where short-notice projects/orders or changes to projects and orders may affect costing and related financial information. The role is not directly exposed to on-site event execution or other operational demands. The position is based in Somerset West, Western Cape.
