Functional Consultant

This role supports the delivery of Microsoft-based ERP solutions for finance and operational teams. It suits a finance-minded consultant who can understand client processes, translate business needs into functional requirements, and support implementation, testing and adoption.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Engage with clients to understand current processes, pain points and desired outcomes.
• Run discovery sessions, process reviews and requirements workshops.
• Gather, document and analyse requirements with a strong focus on finance and operational workflows.
• Translate business needs into practical ERP configuration and process improvements.
• Assist with solution design, including functional specifications, process flows and configuration decisions.
• Support implementations, enhancements, upgrades and system changes.
• Contribute to data migration, including validation and reconciliation checks.
• Prepare and execute functional test plans and test scripts.
• Support user acceptance testing and track issues through to resolution.
• Deliver user training and prepare guides, training notes and supporting documentation.
• Provide client support during implementation, go-live and stabilisation phases.
• Contribute to internal documentation, templates, delivery standards and knowledge sharing.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• A background in financial accounting, finance, commerce, business management, information systems or a related field.
• At least 3 years’ experience in finance, accounting, ERP support, business analysis or consulting.
• Strong understanding of general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management and financial reporting.
• Ability to understand business processes and convert them into system requirements.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• A client-facing approach with professionalism, accountability and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and work in a consulting environment.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
• Exposure to other ERP platforms such as Sage, SAP Business One, SYSPRO, NetSuite or Acumatica.
• ERP implementation or upgrade experience.
• Microsoft certifications, or the willingness to work towards certification.
• Exposure to Power BI, Power Platform or Microsoft 365.
• Previous consulting, training or client support experience.
