We are looking for a Key Account Manager with strong relationship management skills, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

The successful candidate will combine commercial thinking with attention to detail to identify opportunities, strengthen key customer relationships, and drive sales growth across strategic accounts.

JOB PURPOSE

To build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with selected key customers in the South African market, including pet speciality chains and e-commerce platforms. You will act as the main liaison between ROGZ and assigned accounts, ensuring effective collaboration, strategic planning, and execution of initiatives to achieve sales targets. This includes maintaining product listings, launching new products, and ensuring an optimal product offering while delivering a high level of customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers

• Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts

• Ensure consistent communication and high-quality customer support

• Identify customer needs and develop tailored solutions, promotions, and strategies

• Resolve issues proactively to maintain customer satisfaction and brand reputation

• Conduct regular business reviews and feedback sessions

• Represent ROGZ in key customer meetings, including product launches and promotional planning

• Identify growth opportunities and provide feedback to senior management

• Collaborate with internal teams to meet customer requirements

 

SALES PERFORMANCE & GROWTH

• Achieve monthly revenue targets and provide performance insights

• Develop and execute strategic account growth plans

• Identify opportunities for new products and promotional activity

• Analyse sales data and provide actionable recommendations

• Monitor industry and retail trends and share insights with management

 

ADMINISTRATIVE & ACCOUNT SUPPORT

• Maintain and manage product listings and new product setups

• Liaise with sales representatives across assigned regions

• Manage supplier portals, including statements, remittances, and system updates

• Communicate pricing updates and ensure customer system alignment

• Resolve account-related administrative queries • Manage promotional budgets for online key retailers

• Support event planning and execution where required

 

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Key Account Manager or in a similar role (retail environment preferred)

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies or equivalent experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

• Valid Code 8 driver’s license and own transport

• Willingness to travel and attend events outside standard working hours

ADVANTAGEOUS:

• Experience in the pet industry

• Experience managing major retail or e-commerce accounts

• Ownership of a dog or cat

• Confident with Microsoft PowerPoint and presenting insights

• Experience with Power BI (advantageous)

• Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to perform in a fast-paced environment
