Pre-School Principal & Teacher

We are a privately owned, nurturing preschool and ECD centre caring for children aged 1–5 years. Our focus is on providing a safe, stimulating, and loving environment where every child can thrive and feel at home. We are looking for a passionate, hands-on Principal to lead our school, manage daily operations, and teach one of our classes (4-5yr / pre grade R class). This role is ideal for someone who loves working directly with children while also taking responsibility for the overall running of the school.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• Formal qualification in Early Childhood Development (ECD) — minimum NQF Level 6, or higher

• At least 5 years’ experience in an ECD or preschool setting, including 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role

• Strong teaching background with experience planning and delivering age appropriate lessons

• Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills

• Knowledge of ECD compliance (DSD/WCED standards, health and safety, staff child ratios, etc.)

• Confident in handling administration, enrolments, and parent communication

• SACE registration (or willingness to register if eligible)

• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport (advantageous) 

Key Responsibilities

• Teach a class of children within the 4-5 year age group.

• Oversee and support teachers and assistants across all age groups

• Ensure compliance with all ECD regulations and health/safety standards

• Prepare and oversee teachers weekly lesson planning.

• Manage staff rosters, enrolments, budgets, and school communications

• Maintain positive relationships with parents, staff, and the wider community

• Promote the school’s values and ensure a warm, professional, child-centred environment
