We are a South African non-profit organisation committed to unlocking the potential of young people through education, leadership development, and holistic support. Rooted in our communities, we believe in creating opportunities that transform lives and contribute to building a thriving, inclusive future for our youth.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Social Development Facilitator to join our dynamic team at the Kay Mason Foundation. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about youth development, transforming lives and thrives in a creative, dynamic, collaborative, and fast paced environment. You will be hands on, working with our scholars, alumni, and parents as part of the social development team, to ensure that our scholars and alumni achieve their full potential.  You will also work closely with external role players, corporates, supporters and members from other departments within the organisation to ensure consistent and impactful communication with our donors, partners, and communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and manage the catapult program to ensure greater success rates for scholars transitioning from school to life after school.

The Catapult program aims to “catapult” our scholars and young alumni towards great success after leaving school, through ensuring                job shadowing, career guidance, support with subject and study choices, as well as career mentorships.

  • Manage the planning and finances for the Catapult program.
  • Plan, implement and manage effective applicable psychometric assessment for scholars.

  • Provide psycho-social support to scholars in respect of their development journey towards effective study and career choices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Catapult program.
  • Assess why certain scholars do not achieve success as easily after leaving school and implement solutions to effectively negate this.
  • Develop, implement and manage the alumni support program to continue support services towards the KMF alumni, ensuring their continued success as young adults, and for alumni to provide support towards current KMF scholars and other alumni.

  • Provide psycho-social development and support interventions for KMF alumni to empower and support them towards more effective executive functioning.
  • Support alumni to achieve greater career success.
  • Develop and implement an alumni internship program.
  • Manage the planning and finances of the alumni support program.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the alumni support program.
  • Manage scholar, alumni, and program administration.

What We’re Looking For

  • Relevant degree in Social Work, or related fields such as psychology.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a practicing social worker.

  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • develop, implement and coordinate development programs
    • implement individual-, group-, and community-based interventions
    • interact, connect, and communicate very effectively with scholars, alumni, parents, donors, and team members
    • manage administrative responsibilities
    • develop, implement and manage intricate projects
    • do research to develop quality applicable programs for youth, as well as to be solution focussed
