TECHNICIAN – FIELD SERVICE & WORKSHOP

THE POSITION

We are looking for an experienced Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) Technician to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of a rental fleet of MEWPs, including boom lifts, cherry pickers and scissor lifts, Telehandlers & fleet vehicles.

This is a hands-on technical position suited to an experienced technician who can diagnose faults, identify the cause of a problem and carry out repairs with minimal supervision.

This is not an entry-level or trainee position. Proven post-trade experience is required.

Our fleet includes equipment from leading manufacturers such as Niftylift, JLG, Genie, Manitou, Zoomlion, Toyota, Nissan and Isuzu, operating from a modern workshop and field-service environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Service, maintain and repair MEWPs and other mobile equipment and vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and control-system faults.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.
• Attend workshop and on-site breakdowns.
• Inspect and prepare equipment before being placed on hire.
• Carry out pre-delivery inspections and safety checks.
• Identify faults accurately and repair equipment efficiently.
• Complete job cards, inspection sheets and service reports.
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship and equipment reliability.
• Work safely and professionally both in the workshop and on customer sites.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Essential:

• Proven post-trade experience as a technician.
• Strong practical fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
• Experience working on mobile machinery or equipment.
• Good mechanical and hydraulic knowledge.
• Good electrical / auto-electrical diagnostic ability.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for completing repairs correctly.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Reliable, professional and safety-conscious.

MEWP EXPERIENCE

Direct experience on MEWPs, access equipment or similar equipment will be a significant advantage.

Experience with equipment such as:

• Boom lifts / Cherry Pickers
• Scissor lifts
• Telehandlers
• Forklifts
• Mobile plant
• Earthmoving equipment
• Agricultural machinery
• Other hydraulic mobile equipment

QUALIFICATIONS & TRADE BACKGROUND

Primary background listed in order of preference

• MEWP Technician
• Forklift Technician
• Diesel Mechanic
• Yellow Metal Plant

will be considered where they have strong relevant post-trade experience and diagnostic ability.

Experience in these fields is an advantage — the primary requirement is proven ability to diagnose, service and repair MEWP.
